Mansfield Police Promote Four; Eye Greater Focus on Crime Prevention

"We are very excited about the flexibility and future opportunities these four promotions represent," said the Mansfield Police Department.

The Mansfield Police Department recently promoted four people within their department.

Tracey Juda and Frank Archer were promoted to the rank of lieutenant and Michael Ellsworth and Brian Thibault were promoted to the rank of sergeant.

“We are very excited about the flexibility and future opportunities these four promotions represent. Our goal as a department is to focus less on the aftereffects of criminal behavior and focus more on prevention. This entails a paradigm shift in the way that we look at not only our profession but other roles in society as well and how they all interrelate into the fabric community,” said the Mansfield Police Department.

“In short, we must look over the horizon. We have made a tremendous number of changes in the last nine months, primarily surrounding the basic tenets of reengineering and transparency in the our processes, products, practices and intelligence gathering. These nine promoted individuals carry with them three basic values that will help us take the needed steps to move forward: Idealism, optimism, and empathy. But most importantly, they understand the urgency that is at the heart of the need for our agency (and truthfully our profession) to change, progress and grow.”

“Tracey Juda is a 20-year veteran who spent a number of years as our court prosecutor, but was most recently the 4-12 shift supervisor. She is a member of the Metropolitan Police Council Mobile Operations unit and has served as squad leader and instructor. She was recognized in 2012 by the Massachusetts Women in Law enforcement, and the Southeastern Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association for courage in rescuing several people and their pets from a burning home. She is a Marine Corp veteran and a graduate of Mansfield High School and holds a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice.
