Officials Will Not Release IDs of Victims in Mansfield Train Crash

Authorities said Monday they will not be releasing the identification of three victims who were killed after the vehicle they were riding in was struck by an Amtrak train in Mansfield Sunday. 

The train was reportedly en route to Washington, D.C. Sunday night when it struck the vehicle at Gilbert Street Crossing in Mansfield. The train derailed after the crash. 

In a press conference Monday afternoon, officials said the train involved was traveling at a track speed of 125 mph at the time of the crash, and that they would not be releasing the names or the ages of the victims, but did refer to them as two males and one female, NECN reported. 

About 180 passengers were on the train at the time of the incident, but none were injured; a train conductor was evaluated for a head injury. The vehicle involved reportedly drove onto and along the train tracks before the incident, and authorities are looking into where the vehicle accessed the tracks.

The investigation remains ongoing.
