Police Chase Ends With Two Arrested

Michael J. Combis and Jerome J. Wieczorek caught near John Scott Boulevard area.

At 2:23 p.m., patrolman Brian Greco attempted to stop a gray Ford Taurus on John B. Scott Boulevard for speeding. The vehicle, operated by Michael J. Combis, 42, of Walnut Street, Mansfield, sped through the intersection of John B. Scott Boulevard and Dean Street and continued traveling down Dean Street.

In the area of 50 Dean St., the vehicle stopped abruptly while Combis and the passenger, Jerome J. Wieczorek, 39, of Arnold Street, Taunton, exited the vehicle and fled behind the residence at 50 Dean St. and into the wooded area. Greco pursued the males and was able to place Combis into custody approximately 200 yards into the wooded area while Wieczorek fled. Other officers searched the area in an attempt to locate Wieczorek.

While searching the area, several motorists informed police that they observed a male subject running into a separate wooded area on Dean Street. In the area of Dean Street and John B. Scott Boulevard, patrolman Christopher McCarthy located Wieczorek and placed him into custody.

Both subjects were transported to the Norton police station and charged with drinking alcohol from an open container in a motor vehicle, disturbing the peace, disorderly person, resisting arrest and destruction of property. Combis was additionally charged with speeding, seatbelt violation, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, stop sign violation and failure to stop for a police officer. Wieczorek also had two outstanding arrest warrants for motor vehicle offenses, felony larceny and trespassing.

Combis is being held on $1,000 cash bail and Wieczorek is being held without bail.
