Police Nab Man After Foot Chase Near Best Buy

Khalid J. Tom was hit with several charges.

Mansfield police on Saturday captured a man after a foot chase near the Best Buy on School Street.

Khalid J. Tom, of 107 Pleasant St., Dorchester, was hit with multiple charges, according to the Mansfield police log.

The incident started at about 8:20 p.m. when police received a call that Tom tried to use a fraudulent credit card to buy a MacBook at Best Buy. When Officer David Kerr arrived, Tom allegedly fled on foot. Kerr caught up with him and held him at Taserpoint as help arrived, according to the log.

Tom was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, possession of a counterfeit credit card, and identity fraud, among other charges.
