Selectmen Approve New Lieutenant for Police Department

Following a number of recent retirements in the Mansfield Police Department, Chief Ronald Sellon and Lieutenant Samuel Thompson Jr. appealed to the Board of Selectmen Wednesday night to add a third lieutenant to the ranks.

"What we find ourselves in is a position where we have the potential of having so many younger, newer officers, we want to make sure we have some command structure and oversight," said Sellon.

The Selectmen voted unanimously to allow the Department to hire a new lieutenant. "It seems to make sense," said Vice Chairman Doug Annino. "I like the idea of having a lieutenant to fill that spot."
