Update: Westwood Man Severely Injured After Assault at Tim McGraw Concert

He was airlifted from the area.

Update (1:15 p.m.): A Boston Medical Center spokesperson confirmed Monday that a Westwood man who was assaulted at a concert Sunday night was being treated at the hospital, but would not comment on his condition. 

"We're not providing any information on that patient," said Gina DiGravio, a BMC spokesperson, said Monday afternoon. 

The victim, identified by Mansfield Police as 19-year-old Michael J. Skehill of Westwood, was severely assaulted Sunday at the in Mansfield and had to be airlifted to a Boston hospital around 10 p.m.

According to Mansfield Police, the assault took place during the Tim McGraw concert. The victim was initially misidentified as a 23-year-old army soldier serving in El Paso, Texas, as the identification in his pocket stated as such. He was later identified as Skehill.

Witnesses told Officer Roy Bain during the initial investigation that a man jumped on Skehill's back and they both fell to the ground. A second man joined in the melee after the first had punched Skehill in the ribs multiple times. The second assailant kicked the victim in the head. Later in the investigation, more witnesses said that between two and four persons were involved in the assault.

Skehill was transported to Boston Medical Center in serious condition. He was still in the operating room at last report, according to Police.
