Wear Blue Friday in Honor of Fallen Trooper

Sgt. Douglas Weddleton's family asks to support his memory on the 8-month anniversary of his death.

Just eight short months ago, on June 18, 2010 State Trooper Sergeant Douglas Weddleton was working a construction detail on Interstate 95 northbound in Mansfield, near the exit to Interstate 495.

Weddleton had positioned his cruiser, with blue lights flashing,  to block and protect the construction crew during this night detail.  Reports say Weddleton stopped a drunk driver that went around his car on the exit ramp at 65 miles per hour. A few moments later, his car was rammed by a second drunk driver,  pushing Weddleton between two vehicles and causing his death.

Weddleton's actions that night were later attributed to ensuring the safety of the construction crew he was guarding.
