How Would You Grade Mansfield’s Snow Plowing This Winter?

Give your praise, voice your concern and let the town know what you think about snow plowing this winter.

The past three weeks have seen one snowstorm after another barrel up the east coast and dump more snow onto the area.

Plowing snow is often a thankless job. There is rarely praise, but there are few things that raise a person’s ire more than snow-covered streets days after a snowstorm has passed.

With us now deep into February and after three weeks of snowstorms, we want to know: How would you rate Mansfield’s snow removal this winter?

Let us know in the comments section below. Give your praise, voice your concern and let the town know what you think about snow plowing this winter.

Based on my area, they deserve an A.

They do a good job, it's funny tho, I watch a plow clear a town building lot near my house and come back every hour AFTER the snow has stopped and re-plow it. They then drive by it a few more times and re-plow the sidewalk.

Plowing outstanding. Roads atrocious.

A+ Awesome job just like every year...

Take a look at some of the back roads by the electric department , all snow and ice still.
HJ February 20, 2014 at 08:38 AM
After further review, I'll agree with TCollins. The snow was well plowed, but the roads are extremely icy. Difficult to walk on.

Great Job, They really have been poushed to the limits this year!!!

great job. i have no complaints. we're watching the plow budget too. we might have to re-evaluate the timing on applying our saline mix, just listening to others about the ice.

The plowing & snow removal in Mansfield has been outstanding! This has been an extremely difficult winter with 20 plus storms, I can only imaging how tired these people are. Kudos to all for a wonderful job under adverse conditions!

20 storms? I don't consider an inch or two a storm, this is New England
HJ February 20, 2014 at 04:05 PM
BH, the news stations hype every drop of precip so much it may seem like there's 20 storms.

The plowing has been fantastic but I walk to the train everyday and almost killed myself the last 2 on the sidewalk ice. Need to fix that. How are the walkers getting safely to and from school
BH February 21, 2014 at 07:21 AM
Yeah what happened to the sidewalk plow and snowblower. Haven't seen those since the first storm.
HJ February 21, 2014 at 10:38 AM
BH can you sprinkle some salt in front of the 214 Rumford building? It's a skating rink and I went down last night.

I have lived in Mansfield for 24 years and the plowing has always been good. However this winter it has been poor. Many early mornings West St., Plain St. and Gilbert St. have been slippery and untreated. York Rd and Southpark Lane have been horrible. They have been plowed once, maybe twice during the storm to open up the streets but no follow-up to clean up the remnants which then freeze causing a safety problem. I believe the town has undertaken a new approach on side streets this winter and it is called "Natural" snow removal. That is when you wait for it to melt on its own and say the heck to public safety to save on the budget.

I agree Bill, my street and surrounding aren't down to pavement until days after if I'm lucky.

I think they have done a great job.
Fed Up February 24, 2014 at 03:41 PM
if you consider all the snow we have had.
Fed Up February 24, 2014 at 03:42 PM
No one has complained from town hall about the $$. They have just gone out and done the job.
