Letter to the Editor: Jay Barrows Supports Scott Brown

I’m writing to express my full support for the re-election of U.S. Senator Scott Brown. Scott represents an independent voice for Massachusetts in Congress. I can personally attest to his sound judgment, great character, and bipartisan attitude from our time working together at the State House. 

Now, more than ever, we need leaders in Washington who are prepared to deal with not only the economic issues facing this country but the military ones as well.  As a Lieutenant in the National Guard, Senator Brown has the background and the specific knowledge we need as our country faces a more turbulent international climate. 

Incredibly impressive to me, both personally and professionally, is Senator Brown's attentiveness to the legislation brought before him in the Senate.  Quite simply, he reads it.  Senator Brown's first loyalty is, and has always been, to the people of Massachusetts; as witnessed by his voting for bills that made good economic sense and didn't raise taxes - no matter which political party proposed them. 

What’s most important is that Scott is truly one of us. A life-long Massachusetts resident, our communities have always known Scott as our neighbor over in Wrentham who, together with his wife Gail, was working and raising a family just like the rest of us.  

He knows how great our schools are because he and his family have attended them.  You can find Scott visiting our schools, our senior centers, and patronizing local businesses. 

Over the years Scott has proudly served the people of Massachusetts as an assessor, a selectman, a State Representative, a State Senator, and now as a U.S. Senator. 

This resume of service is matched only by his responsiveness to those he serves.  As a State Representative, whenever I have called upon his office to help a constituent, Scott and his staff have provided whatever help we needed. 

We first elected Senator Brown because he promised the people of Massachusetts he would to reach across the aisle and get things done.  He delivered on that promise. 

Now we need to return him to Washington again to continue that great work.  Please join me in voting to re-elect US Senator Scott Brown on November 6.  We know Scott, and we know he truly works for us.
