Mansfield Going Solar

Solar energy panels approved at the Mansfield Landfill.

Mansfield Selectmen agreed this week to a lease contract with SunEdison Originations for a 1.5-megawatt solar array at the top of the East Street landfill in Mansfield.

11 developers said they , and SunEdison was selected from the bids.

The town will pay a fixed price of 5.25 cents per kilowatt hour. The station is estimated to produce two million kilowatts every year.
