Mansfield’s Jay Barrows (R-Mansfield) is currently working on preparations in Tampa Bay Florida for the Republican National Convention.
“There’s a lot of excitement here in Tampa,” he said.
The convention will mark the final step in finalizing the Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan ticket for the general election. Barrows is a delegate for the state of Massachusetts at the convention.
Barrows was appointed to the platform committee to specifically represent the state's Fourth District.
“There are a lot of great people here working on the platform, sharing ideas and thoughts,” Barrows said. “I think we’re going to have a very clear message on some real changes in the direction we’re currently going in.”
The event will feature literally tens of thousands of members of the press to create what the convention’s site says will be a “convention without walls” through social media and the Internet. A crowd of 50,000 is expected to attend the event.
Barrows said that the focus of the convention would be in drawing a clear distinction between the candidates and their economic policies.
“There will be some clear, clear choices,” he said.
