Mansfield Street Repair Projects Moving Forward

Seal coating repairs in Mansfield's Cabot Business Park estimated for completion in ten days.

Mansfield town manager William Ross said on Wednesday that road repairs in Mansfield are moving along smoothly.

He said that repair work on Cabot Business Park has had its base-coat of asphalt, and that the Mansfield Department of Public Works expects the entirety of the job to be completed in a week to ten days, to lay down the final layer of asphalt.

Ross added that work on the drainage system for the park has been fixed. He said that while the system has to be angled down to collect water, the drains were so low that they were causing problems with vehicles' suspension and tires.

"We're close to getting the project wrapped up," he said. "It's a major facelift for Cabot Park."

Ross said that seal coating work on Jennifer Drive, Serena Allan Way, Rosewood Drive and Boundry Road will begin next week. Seal coating repairs are not full-blown repaving jobs, but will extend the life of a given road considerably.

Mansfield selectman George Dentino asked about the current repaving jobs being done on West Street off of Route 140 near Erin Center. He initially had a problem with how the job was done because the new pavement was no tapered off with asphalt, and was damaging tires.

"It hurts the automobile and chips the asphalt," he said.

Ross said that he was told by the Mansfield department of public works directer Lee Azinheira said the work was done to create a consistent stretch of pavement along West Street.
