One Race to be Contested in May's Town Election

Only the selectmen race will feature more candidates than seats available.

Bearing a strong write-in campaign, there will only be one contested race when Mansfield voters head to the polls for this year's town election. Nominees had until March 26 to pull papers and submit at least 50 signatures to appear on the ballot. While no new candidates can appear on the ballot, the withdrawal date for candidates who no longer wish to run is Thursday, April 11.

Unless someone chooses to withdraw, the only contested race will be for the two seats on the Mansfield Board of Selectmen. Incumbents Olivier E. Kozlowski and Douglas R. Annino are both running for reelection and local businessman Karl D. Clemmey is the lone challenger.

For the two school committee seats, Lynn Cavicchi and Linda Fernando are the only candidates. Incumbent Lisa M. Losiewicz pulled papers but opted to not run for reelection.

Other uncontested races include Kevin J. Doyle for housing authority, Elizabeth J. Dye for an unexpired term on the housing authority, and incumbent Robert H. H. Sarquet is once again running for moderator.

The town election is scheduled for May 14.
