Selectmen Moran Won't Run For Re-election

Kevin Moran will end his tenure on the Board of Selectmen as Chairman Jess Aptowitz runs for a third term.

Selectman Kevin Moran announced last week that he will not seek re-election in the upcoming town elections in May, according to the Sun Chronicle

Moran, a Hyde Park Native, had only served on the Animal Welfare Committee before being elected to the board in 2008. He said that he had a "gut feeling" to throw his hat in the ring then, just as he has the same feeling to step down. He said he wants to spend more time with his sons, 17 and 14.

Chairman Jess Aptowitz, whose term also ends in May, decided to run for a third, three-year term. He hasn't decided which issues to focus on during his campaign, but said that selectmen must keep things moving in the right direction going forward.
