Selectmen OK BYOB Regulations for Mansfield

The Board of Selectmen will finalize the policy after a public hearing scheduled in two weeks.

The Mansfield Board of Selectmen has approved proposed BYOB regulations that would allow patrons to bring their own alcohol to restaurants in town, according to the Sun Chronicle. The proposal will only allow for beer and wine and would limit consumption indoors only, and would prohibit owners from charging alcohol-related fees.

There is also an issue that restaurant employees are not allowed to touch any alcohol brought in from customers, but Board of Selectman Chairman Jess Aptowitz was concerned about customers leaving half-empty containers behind.

Town Manager Bill Ross said that they would use common sense and not penalize businesses for "something small like that." Mansfield resident will get the chance to voice their opinions and concerns at a public hearing scheduled in two weeks, before the selectmen finalize the policy.
