Mansfield Selectmen Roundup: Comcast Overages, Tobacco/Alcohol and Rum Runner

The following is a summary for the July 25 Mansfield Board of Selectmen meeting.

Director of the Westerern Bristol County and Foxborough Tobacco and Alcohol Prevention Collaborative Marylin Edge came in and discussed current state regulations concerning tobacco and alcohol in Bristol County. Mansfield selectmen chair Olivier Kozlowski said that the Mansfield Board of Health’s current (and updated) regulations concerning tobacco regulations be put on the Mansfield Web site.

Mansfield selectmen approved town manager William Ross’s request to go to the City Council Management Conference in October in Arizona.

The Mansfield Board of Selectmen approved a change of location of Rum Runner Liquors from the Stop and Shop plaza to 428 Elm Street 4-0 with Doug Annino absent.

Ross said that

Selectmen approved a $5,000 fine for the Comcast Center due to a 15 minute overage at the Drake concert in June.

Ross said that the town is looking for a new police chief to replace Chief Arthur O’Neil when he retires in March 2013. Ross said the replacement will come from staff already in the department.

Ross said that he had a meeting on Wednesday with the MBTA concerning a new handicap accessible ramp from the station side of the Mansfield Train Station to the Winthrop Street parking lot via a zig-zag ramp through the concrete in the rail bridge.

Kozlowski  said that the repaving of Route 106 in Mansfield will be completed in November of 2013.
