The following is a listing of concerts held at the Jordan Jackson Elementary School in Mansfield.

The following was submitted by Jordan Jackson Principal Teresa Murphy.

The Jordan/Jackson School Chorus, Band and Orchestra have been in full swing for the past several weeks. The commitment, passion, and love of music shown by the students and their instructors is an inspiration!

  • The winter chorus concert will be held during the school day on January 17, 2013. The theme of the production is friendship, peace, and making a difference. The performances will be held at 9 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. at the Jordan/Jackson Multi-purpose Room. Families will be invited to attend one of these two shows.

Although the winter concert has been held in December for the last several years, the decision was made last spring that the concert would be scheduled in January. The 200 fourth- and fifth-grade students who participate in chorus meet during one of their recess periods each week.

The first time the chorus sings together as a whole group will be on the day of the first concert that they perform this year.  Holding the program in January allows the students and choral directors a few extra weeks to prepare for the concert. The theme of the music chosen for this year’s concert aligns with the school-wide PBIS (or “We Care”) program.  For information about PBIS please access the link: http://www2.mansfieldschools.com/education/staff/staff.php?sectionid=425&

  • There will also be a winter performance by the band and orchestra students, lead by Mr. Bob D’Ambrosia and Mrs. Bonnie Harlow. The concert is tentatively scheduled for early February.

  • On March 7, 8 and 9, ninety-two of our fifth-grade students will be presenting the musical “Rock Around the Clock”. The play has been cast and is currently in rehearsals. The musical was written and is directed by Ms. Jaime Steinbach. The students are working hard on their respective parts.

  • There are also plans for a spring concert that includes the J/J chorus, band and orchestra. In recent years, the year-end concert has been performed at the Comcast Center, and our hope is that the venue will invite us again this year. In any event, whether the concert is held at J/J or at the Comcast Center, we are assured of a truly magical night of entertainment.
