Mansfield Girls Field Hockey Beats Hopkinton 3-1

Mansfield Field Hockey never loses the lead and wins 3-1.

Mansfield Girls Varsity Field Hockey dominated Hopkinton Friday 3-1. Mansfield never let go of the lead, and Hopkin was rarely able to threaten at all during the game.

"I would go so far as to say as far as a team play, this was our best team effort," said head coach Theresa DeGirolamo.

Mansfield scored early, with two goals in the first half. Mansfield was able to stop any breakaway drive that Hopkinton tried to get off, and only let one goal through in what was a melee of sticks and shouting.

The Hornets kept their defense tight, leading the Hopkinton offense into each other like a ballet.

"We had several double teams, we channeled Hopkinton into our other teammates, we overlapped," DeGirolamo said. "We played great today."
