Mansfield Oct. 2 School Committee: Field Fees, Letter Policy and MCAS

The following is a summary of the Oct. 2, 2012 meeting of the Mansfield School Committee.

The Mansfield School Committee approved a measure 4-1, with Wayne Smith against, that would increase fees for non school-sponsored events at the MHS field.

The school committee heard a presentation on the school’s MCAS results.

Superintendent Brenda Hodges said that the Elks Club donated a new flag to replace an aging one.

The school committee approved a motion that reaffirmed Karen Halle’s position as school physician.

The school committee approved school policy changes 5-0.

The school committee discussed policy concerning correspondences received and when they need to read them during meetings.

Hodges said that the high school is looking at opening a new exhibit to feature MHS students’ artwork at the entrance of the high school.

Director of finances for the Mansfield school district Edward Vozzella said that the district is preparing the fiscal year 2013 budget.

Hodges said that, while the current phone system is working after a patch, it is “held together by band aides.” She said the school and the town are working to find a more permanent solution.
