Mansfield Public Schools Going Green

New initiatives for the Mansfield School District.

Last week marked the initiation of a school district-wide campaign to implement environmental practices throughout the school buildings withint the town of Mansfield.

Mansfield Schools' Green Advisory Team consisting of administrators, teachers and food service and building and grounds personnel formed a roundtable brainstorming session to discuss some of the environmental goals for the schools to strive for.

Mansfield staff and students had previously joined forces with the local Green Schools Organization and was successful in many initiatives, such as recycling, involving project teammate as well as incorporating the use of less toxic cleanning products. Through the efforts of staff, students and the Environmental Club, the Green Earth Hornets, Mansfield public schools was recognized last year at the annual Green Schools Green Difference Awards for their outstanding effort and commitment toward creating greener schools.

A special kick off meeting of the Green Schools organization will be held at the on Sunday, Dec. 11 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
