The Mansfield School Committee voted on Tuesday on a number of issues, the primary being the school budget.
The committee voted 4-1 to approve the recommended budget, which would include a number of new teaching positions, but would also exclude other positions that were deemed less of a priority than others. Some of these positions include, but are not limited to, a library media assistant position, an elimination of two elementary teaching positions (because of stable class sizes), a reading teacher and a curriculum director/data analyst position.
The committee also considered and tabled for further discussion in executive session a request from Police Chief Arthur O'Neill to allow one or more K-9 units into the High School to sweep for illicit substances.
