"We were getting offense. We just couldn't finish," Mansfield head coach Kevin Smith said.

"We out-shot them, 8-2, in the first half. And it was a little closer in the second half, but we had opportunities but we just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net."

Sharon head coach Jon Lavien called Mansfield (5-3-4) "the top team in the Kelley-Rex" Division.

"When you play a team like that and go toe to toe with them, it's good for the program," Lavien said.

"We could've pulled out a win. But that we didn't lose our composure and we stuck it out at the end is great."

Sharon plays at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Stoughton, a make-up of the Sept. 23 rainout.

With a 6-3-1 record, the Eagles have 13 of the 20 points needed to qualify for the post-season, Lavien said. And 10 games are left on the schedule. Wins are worth two points, and ties are one point.

"My problem is that just making it into the tournament isn't good enough," Lavien said.

"With 10 games left, we should win a majority of those. We shouldn't be looking and saying, 'We only have to win three, and a tie.'"

Mansfield plays at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at North Attleboro.
