Mansfield Student Stars in Feehan Rendition of Grease

Mansfield talent showing strong for spring production.

Bishop Feehan High School will stage the 50’s rock ‘n roll musical, Grease, on March 30 – April 1st.  Starring in the lead roles of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski are Jay Vita (Mansfield) and Sarah Fishbach (Rehoboth), both familiar faces on the local youth theater scene. Directed by Feehan’s Alden Harrison, and featuring  a cast and crew of more than 80 area high school students, the show is sure to entertain.

First staged in 1971, Grease is named for the 1950s United States working-class youth subculture known as the greasers. The musical, set in 1959 at fictional Rydell High School, follows ten working-class teenagers as they navigate the complexities of high school.  It tells the story of the leader of the Greasers who falls hopelessly in love with the new girl in town, while touching upon common teenage themes including love, friendship, rebellion, and adolescence – all set to a score that recreates the sounds of early rock and roll. In addition to Vita and Fishbach, the Bishop Feehan production features Greasers Noah Bridgestock (Kenicke), Ben Inegreri (Sonny), Doody (Brendan Lynch), Roger (Brendan Fowler) along with Pink Ladies Samantha Vita (Rizzo), Nicole Lambi (Frenchy), Samantha McSweeney (Jan), and Meghan Murray (Marty).  Rounding out the cast of teenage characters are the hilarious Patty Simcox (Olivia Cortellini) and Eugene (Connor Clang) as well as steamy Cha-Cha (Laura Clerx).  To go along with all of the fun, there’s plenty of 50’s style nostalgia thanks to heart throbs Teen Angel (Tim Doherty), Vince Fontaine (Antonio Taylor), and Johnny Casino (Justin Gilbert.)  Only Miss Lynch, the old schoolmarm played by Meg Reilly, seems interested in maintaining some decorum at Rydell High.

Performances will be held on March 30th and 31st at 7pm and on April 1st at 2pm in the Bishop Feehan High School Auditorium. General seating tickets are available at the door.  Reserved seat tickets will be available in the theater lobby at Bishop Feehan on 3/24 and 3/25, 12 – 4 pm.  General Admission is $12; Students and Seniors are $10.
