Mansfield Volleyball Sweeps Foxborough

Despite a strong comeback in the third set, Foxborough loses 3-0 to Mansfield volleyball.

The Mansfield varsity volleyball team beat Foxborough, 3-0, in some close matches Wednesday.

The most exciting match was the last one, in which Foxborough took an early lead against the Hornets. The Warriors took a seven-point lead against Mansfield, leading, 11-4. 

The lead was characterized by Foxborough's server, Ally Perry, who kept the rally going on serves and barely allowed Mansfield a chance to fight back.

"We kept it close for a while in the second set same with the third set," said Foxborough head coach Dan Damish. "We just got to learn how to play with intensity all the way through."

The Hornets only scored four times in first 12 serves, while Foxborough opened up the lead.

Mansfield was able to gain control by 13th serve, and started a rally that would propel them into the lead. Foxborough kept up a good back and fourth for a a time, but was ultimately unable to bounce back.

It was Mansfield's time to rally, as Foxborough was only able to score five points in what would become the 17 remaining serves.

"We did excellent today," said Mansfield assistant coach Lindsay Nastor.

Nastor said Lindsay Beis played excellent during the game and was instrumental in the win.

Mansfield improved their record to 7-7, while Foxborough dipped to 6-7. Mansfield will play King Philip on Friday away, while Foxborough will be off until Tuesday when they play Canton at home.
