MHS Project Teammate Opens Store for Special Education

Helps students helping students is MHS Project Teammates' goal.

Project Teammate has opened their school store and is now selling Mansfield shirts, sweatshirts and other gear at the high school.

Proceeds from the store go to helping Project Teammate build its classes. The project, which works in conjunction with both special education and regular education faculty, encourages regualr and special education students to connect with one another.

Regular education students either volunteer their time during studies or take a class as a full credit elective. Special education students have time scheduled for this class or it is part of their physical education credit.

Project Teammate currently has three periods during the school day. The first class, P1, is also a physical education credit course. The other two classes, P3 & P4, do jobs that enhance skills for real world applications. Jobs include stocking the cafeteria, running the school store, and recycling. During the course, regular and special education students will be paired up, and improving team-building skills through activities, such as sports, school related jobs, and communication skills.
