The Mansfield wrestling team participated in the Woburn Invitational Tournament on Saturday Jan. 14th. Mansfield placed seventh in the 16 team field. The Hornets entered wrestlers in 10 of the 14 weight classes.
Derrion Walker was the champion of the 160 pound weight class. He compiled a record of 4-0 with three pins to his credit. In the finals he pinned Ben Luliano of Lincoln Sudbury High School at the 3:28 mark. Derrion, a senior captain is enjoying an outstanding season thus far. He currently has a record of 22-2.
Tyler Budwey (170) a senior captain had a great showing placing second with a 3-1 record and two pins. Dan Gilmore (152) a senior captain placed fourth with a record of 3-2 and three pins. Aurian Dawkins (120) also placed fourth with a 2-2 record and one pin. Other Mansfield wrestlers with multiple wins were Joe Herrick (132) 2-2 two pins and Sam McLoughlin 2-2.
