Jeremiah Diruzzo (3-0) Redline Vs. Dicky White (2-0) CNYMMA

White and his groundwork dominated despite Diruzzo landing some early punches and a take down. White looked much faster and stronger in this match-up. Decision White defeats Diruzzo with Tapout and Rear Naked Choke at 2:50 of the First.

Kody Nordby (0-0) Team Ronin Vs. Mark Johnson (0-0) Florian Martial Arts

Coming straight from his high school graduation Nordby starts his fighting career by dominating a first round that was full of groundwork from the word “go.” Decision Nordby defeats Johnson with Tapout and Rear Naked Choke at 2:37 of the First.

Danny Shields (0-2) Battleground Vs. Gene Lang (0-0) CNYMMA

With both fighters weighing closer to 170 then any before them, we got to see some hard-hitting fighting. With both Lang and Shields being able to land vicious rights early in the first round. In the second however things leaned a little more towards groundwork as the two fighters battled for position for most of the round. A quick start to the third for Shields was countered and more groundwork took place in the third. This one went to the judges who had it scored one judge 28-28 and the final two 29-27 in favor of Gene Lang. The crowd and many of the people in attendance thought Shield shout have won this one.

Nate Andrews (3-2) Team United Muay Leo Vs. Sergio Cabrera (3-0) BMAC

This fight is for the Lightweight Title. Andrews sporting a nice amount of fan support almost wins the first round with some good groundwork but the bell saved Cabrera. Cabrera rebounded quickly in the second but an excellent counter by Andrews gains him the victory and the Lightweight Title. Decision Andrews defeats Cabrera at :32 seconds in the second round by way of the Arm Bar. Andrews thanks “God, his friends and family and his sponsors. As well as AFO for giving him the opportunity.”

John Johnston (0-0) Sityodtong Vs. Sandor Brinkley (0-1) NEMMA

Johnston was one of the most supported fighters here tonight in his heavyweight debut, and did not disappoint. Making sure that this one didn’t go any further than it needed to completely dominating Brinkley with a takedown and then several skilled boxing moves. Once Brinkley went to the ground, this one was over in a hurry. 1:27 into the first Johnston wins on a T.K.O.

Katie “Biscribble Worm” Merrill (0-0) Waikru-Tapout Boston Vs. Sarah Malloy (0-0) Bodytech MMA

This fight never took place as the challenger Sarah Malloy accidentally fell earlier this afternoon. Pinching a nerve in her back.

Tyler King (3-0) Connor’s MMA Vs. Randy Smith (11-9-1) CNYMMA

This fight was for the Heavyweight Title. Former NFL Linebacker Tyler King scored an early take down and the majority of the first round was dominated the groundwork of both fighters. Counter attacks from Smith prevented a first round tap out and a King victory.

In round two the hard charging King was taken to the ground early and pummeled by heavy rights from Smith. A counter and relentless attempts to pin and arm bar Smith swung things drastically in Kings favor as the fight moved deeper into the round. Smith bounced back late with a flip and several more vicious right hands to the face along with some elbows to the mid section of King. Making this round very difficult to score for the judges.

Round three was much more relaxed than the previous two rounds with both fighters looking as though they were heavily fatigued. After some being pinned against the wall for over a minute the referee separated the fighters and upon the restart King showed his only promise of the round with a quick take down. The response and counter by Smith in my mind gave him the third round.

On to round four where the fighter still appeared to be very tired. As opposed to the third round this round took place on the mat and some excellent groundwork was on display by both fighters. King attempted an arm bar and nearly succeeded which would have ended this one, but again Smith rallied back and landed some very powerful right handed punches to the face. That round could have very well ended up in a tie.

The fifth and final round was called to a pause when the referee called a time out in order to clear King’s face of some blood. The fans certainly let the referee have it, as they wanted to see this fight continue. The fight did indeed continue and it finished out very quietly as both fighters were very tired and continued to push one another up against the walls. Decision was Smith over King by a score of 50-45. Meaning that the judges gave all five rounds to Smith. This was another fight in which the crowd disagreed with the decision. Well maybe not the decision by certainly the scoring.

Jason Sarbarker (2-1) Sityodtong Vs. Paddy Thompson (10-3) South Shore Sportsfighting

The final fight of the evening featured two-time defending welter weight champion Paddy Thompson putting his belt on the line against former Marine and war veteran Jason Sarbarker. In the first round many thought that Sarbarker knocked out Thompson after landing a swift upper cut to the chin of Thomspon. Thomspon responded nicely with a take down. Sarbarker and his tremendous quickness controlled the majority of the round.

In round two Sarbarker showed tremendous strength when he speared Thompson across the cage and pinned him to the ground. The surprise of the day, the match and everything in between was the sneaky quick submission that Thompson was able to land as soon as he was taken down. Thompson now becomes the three time defending champion of the Welterweight Title. This victory was the most surprising victory of the night, as Paddy seemed dominated in the first round. Decision was Thomson defeating Sarbarker at 1:04 in the second round by tap out from a Triangle. As the crowd left they were ushered out listening to “I touch myself” by Divinyls. The theme song for Paddy Thompson.
