Celtics Honor Super Bowl Champion Joe Andruzzi and Foundation

Boston Celtics honor Andruzzi and his foundation during a break in Wednesday's game.

During a break in the action at The Boston Celtics vs. New Jersey Nets game at the TD Garden, the Celts honored former New England Patriot and Cancer Survivor Joe Andruzzi with the team's “Heroes Among Us Award” for his tireless efforts to aid cancer patients and their families and fund cancer research through his Joe Andruzzi Foundation.

Established as an initiative of the Boston Celtics in 1997, “Heroes Among Us” honors individuals who have made an overwhelming impact on the lives of others.

Since establishing the Joe Andruzzi Foundation in 2008, Andruzzi and his wife Jennifer have provided financial assistance to 85 cancer patients and their families, helping them make rent, mortgage and utility payments so that the families can focus on their loved ones getting well.
