Despite a King Philip Comback, Mansfield Hockey Advance Past Warriors

With the win, the Hornets advance to the quarterfinal round of the MIAA Division 2 South Tournament.

With seven of the 15 teams in the MIAA Division 2 South Hockey Tournament from the Hockomock League, it came as no surprise that the No. 6 Mansfield's first opponent in the tournament was No. 11 King Philip High School. Despite the KP Warriors' best efforts, the Hornets edged out their league foe 3-2 to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

A shorthanded goal by Adam Blackman and Keven Flynn at full strength gave Mansfield a 2-0 lead after a period of play, but Ryan Boselli's power play goal early in the second period cut the lead in half.

Over six minutes into the third period, Gavin McIntyre's shot tied things up at 2-2. The draw would be short lived as Flynn's shot through the five hole gave Mansfield a 3-2 lead and the win.
