Five Mansfield High Football Players Named Hockomock All-Stars

Zach Schafer selected Hockomock League football MVP for defense.

The Mansfield High football team placed five players on the Hockomock League all-star team and had the defensive most valuable players.

Linebacker Zach Schafer was the MVP after being in on 86 tackles, 47 solo ones. He also had three and half sacks going into Thanksgiving Day. On offense, he has caught three passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

Dan Gilmore, also a linebacker, was selected for the defensive team. In 10 games, he has made 40 tackles, has four interceptions and scored a two-point conversion.

Defensive back Blayne Taylor was picked with 22 tackles and an interception going into Thanksgiving Day against Foxborough. Offensively, he has rushed 82 times for 622 yards for a 7.6 average and caught eight passes for 119 yards for a 14.6 avarage. Taylor has scored five touchdowns and three two-point conversions.

For the offensive team, lineman Nick Chiocco and running Greg Donahue were named. Chiocco also plays defensive and has been involved in 31 tackles with two sacks. Donahue is approaching the 1,000 yard rushing mark going into the final game with 972 yards on 16 carries for 11 touchdowns. He has also caught nine passes for 124 yards. Scoring wise, Donahue has 16 touchdowns with four two-point conversions for 102 points.
