Hopkins, Timber Rattlers Ready for Second Half

The Mansfield third baseman batted .244 in first half of the season.

Mansfield's Greg Hopkins finished the first half of the season for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers with a .244 batting average with two homers and 21 RBI at third base.

The Timbers finished seven games out of first place with  a38-32 record in the Midwest League MidWest Division. After the all-star break, they will open up the second half of the season at Quad Cities Friday night. Quad Cities claimed a wild card slot in the first half with a 40-27 record.

Wisconsin will be starting anew Friday, hoping to get a playoff spot with a strong second half.

A former Bishop Feehan and St. John's University standout, Hopkins went 52 for 213 in 59 games. He had six doubles, two triples, nine stolen bases, 13 walks and a .612 OPS. Defensively, he made seven errors at third in his second professional season in the Milwaukee Brewers' organization.
