Hornets Boys' Basketball Named Top Team in D1 South Tournament, First Game on Feb. 28
The Hornets will play the winner of West Roxbury vs. Newton South on Feb. 28.
Coming as no surprise, the Mansfield boys basketball team has been awarded the first seed in the MIAA Division 1 South tournament. The Hornets will play the winner of No. 16 West Roxbury vs. No. 17 Newton South on February 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Mansfield High School in the first round of the tournament.
The winner of the south tournament will face the north champion for the chance to play in the Division 1 state championship game at the DCU Center in Worcester.
Considered to be one of the best teams in the state, Mansfield is ranked number one in the ESPN Boston Top 25, number four in Boston Herald EMass Top 25, and number four in the Boston Globe Top 20.

This week, the Hornets wrapped up a 20-2 regular season campaign with a win against Dighton-Rehoboth in the finals of the Mansfield Roundball Classic. Mansfield also beat a strong Wakefield team on Feb. 19.
