Mike Albany, a three-year letter winner at Mansfield High, is a senior linebacker for Bryant University, a Division 1 school. In the season opener at UMaine, Albany made 10 tackles, five solos and five assists. Albany had eight tackles against American International College and also made six tackles against Wagner. The 3-2 Bulldogs are playing at Stonehill Saturday.

Amherst College’s Mike Aldo, who attended The Holderness School, was named the NESCAC Player of the Week after recording seven tackles, three sacks, forcing three fumbles and blocked a punt in a 20-7 win over Bates in season opener. Amherst is hosting Middlebury Saturday.

Nickolas Busharis has stepped into the starting role for the St. Lawrence University, who is off this weekend. The 6-3, 200 sophomore is 59 for 114 with three touchdowns for 658 yards for the 2-3 Saints. One of the players catching passes from Busharis is North Attleboro’s Colby Johnson.

Senior Mark Gilson is in the starting role for the Curry College football at quarterback. The senior has led the Colonels to a 3-2 record, going into today’s game at Western New England. Gilson is 43-62 for 593 yards with five touchdowns.

Mike Willhauck is seeing action at linebacker for Curry. In five games, the sophomore had three tackles and two assists. Connor Barry is a senior fullback on the team.

Former Mansfield High standout Will Gasson is a senior captain at Fitchburg State. The linebacker is a standout defender for the Falcons, who are playing at Framingham State.

It hasn’t taken former Mansfield High teammates Jeff Hill and Jamal Marshall long to get their feet wet at Bentley University as freshmen. In the first game of his college career, Hill caught a 47-yard touchdown pass in a 50-3 win over New York Maritine. Marshall had eight carries for 35 yards in a 43-16 win at St. Anselm. The Falcons are at Merrimack Saturday.

Three Mansfield natives are on the 0-2 Bowdoin College football team, who is playing at Amherst Saturday. A senior wide-receiver, David Westhauver has made two catches for 18 yards. Thomas Romero, who played at Bishop Feehan, is a sophomore quarterback. In a back-up role, he has completed three out of six attempts. Mansfield High’s Anthony Todesco is a freshman lineman.
