Mansfield Gymnastics Take 4th at South Sectional Meet, Qualify for States

The Mansfield Hornets girls' gymnastics team will compete at the state championship after placing fourth at the MIAA South Sectional Championship.

Over the weekend, the Mansfield Hornets punched their ticket to the MIAA Gymnastics State Championship with a fourth place finish at the South Sectional Championship at Hudson High School.

Scoring a total of 143.125 points, the competition was capped off by a strong performance on the balance beam where Alexa Anastos placed third with a score of 9.4. Kaitlin Moore finished 11th in the event with a score of 9.15.

The Hornets were also helped by an 11th place finish by Shannon Moore (9.3) in the floor exercise.

In all around scores, Anastos finished in sixth place, scoring 36.875 points. Shannon Moore finished with a score of 35.150, good enough for 16th place. Kaitlin Moore finished in 25th place with 27.275 points.

The team will head to the state championship at the DCU Center in Worcester on February 27.
