Mansfield High Football Falls to Stoughton For First Lost

The Mansfield High football team lost to Stoughton, 8-0, at home Friday night. It was the Black Knights' win over the Hornets since 2000.

With 40 seconds left in Friday night’s rain-soaked contest between the Stoughton High football team and Mansfield, the Black Knights were kicking off after an Alex Fernandes field goal put visiting Stoughton up 8-0.

The Hornets had rallied to win their first two games of the season against Christian Brothers Academy and Needham, but there would be no comeback against the Black Knights.

“Our defense which has struggled in weeks 1 and 2 played great tonight and our offense which had been great in weeks 1 and 2 didn’t show up,” Mansfield coach Mike Redding said. “I give Stoughton credit. They played hard.”
