Led by Omari Walker, the 1992 team was Mansfield's first Super Bowl winning team. Redding had a very talented squad, regarded by some to be the best-ever at MHS, that went 11-0, beating Winthrop, 20-12, in the Super Bowl. That was the close game the Hornets played that year as they outscored their opponents, 403-129.

Stoughton was the only Hockomock League team, the Hornets did beat by more than 20 points. The margin against the Black Knights was 18, 27-9, in a home rare Saturday night game at Memorial Park.

On Thanksgiving Day in 1992, at rainy muddy Memorial Park field, the Hornets shut out rival Foxborough, 32-0.

Walker was the best player in the state that year, but he had plently of talented surrounding him, in the likes of fullback Tony Forte, lineman Jamie Sullivan, quarterbacks David Camelio and Alex Aleman, receiver David Lundell and running back Matt Carpenter.

The sophomores on that team were the main players on the next Super Bowl winning team in 1994.
