Mansfield's Hopkins Assigned to Wisconsin Team

The infielder is playing for the Timber Rattles, a Class A team of the Milwaukee Brewers.

Mansfield’s Greg Hopkins is getting closer to the Miller Field, the home of the Milwaukee Brewers, the team that drafted him last year. The third baseman is on the roster of the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, a Class A team of the Brewers in the Midwest League. He was assigned to the team April 3.

The Timber Rattlers play in Appleton and serves a nearby rehab place for the injured Milwaukee Brewers to recover, so chances are Hopkins will get a chance to play with some of the players on the major league roster.

Hopkins was drafted in the 24th round last year out of St. John’s University where he batted .358 with 21 doubles, seven homers and 59 RBI as the Red Storm won the Big East Conference Tournament.
