Mansfield's Hopkins Hopes to Help Timber Rattlers Stay in Contention

Mansfield's Greg Hopkins and his Wisconsin Timber Rattlers are starting with a big three-game series against the Western Michigan White Caps tonight at home in a 7:05 p.m. start.
The Timber Rattlers are the Single A club of the Milwaukee Brewers in the Midwest League, while the Western Michigan is a farm team of the Detroit Tigers.
A second and third baseman, Hopkins is going into the game with a .248 average, going 67 for 270 with 38 runs scored and 38 RBI. The second-year pro has eight doubles, two triples and four homers. Hopkins also has 12 stolen bases and has only been caught twice.

The Timber Rattlers are 8-10 in the second half of the season and 46-42 overall. In the second half standings, Wisconsin is five games back of first place Kane County.
Hopkins is a former Bishop Feehan High and St. John's University.
