Milford Pitching Ace Too Much For Mansfield Softball

An 18 strikeout performance by Shannon Smith helped the Scarlet Hawks get past the Hornets 5-1

Facing the best pitcher in the state, there was little the Hornets could do to get on the board against a strong Milford team. Behind Shannon Smith's 18 strikeouts, the Milford Scarlet Hawks picked up a 5-1 win over the Hornets.

With the Hawks doing most of their damage in the top of the second inning, a double by Taylor LeBerun brought Rachel Levine home followed by Lauren Hanna's single that allowed Kiley Richards to put Milford's second run on the board.

Allie Piergustavo made it a 3-0 game after reaching home on a passed ball later in the inning.

A run in the top of the seventh inning by Piergustavo locked up the victory for the Scarlet Hawks.
