Davio's Named Taste of Patriot Place Winner at Matt Light's Cornhole Commotion Event at Gillette Stadium

Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse earned top billing at Matt Light's recent Cornhole Commotion, winning the Taste of Patriot Place.

(June 11, 2013 - Walpole, MA) --- For nearly 30 years, Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse has been wowing discerning diners up the East Coast; and on June 1st, Steve DiFillippo’s team including General Manager Paul Flaherty and Executive Chef Paul King continued to impress at Matt Light’s 1st Annual Cornhole Commotion event at Gillette Stadium. Davio’s at Patriot Place won rave reviews from Cornhole enthusiasts, families, corporate sponsors and celebrities with their perfectly cooked and prepared handmade gnocchi - ultimately earning the Taste of Patriot Place honors.

Davio’s was one of 11 Patriot Place restaurants partaking in the Taste of Patriot Place Food Concourse at Matt Light’s newest marquee event. Attendees were invited to cast their vote for the Taste of Patriot Place – and Davio’s Foxborough Executive Chef Paul King’s Homemade Gnocchi, Basil Pesto, Oven Cured Tomatoes, Fresh Mozzarella with Toasted Pine Nuts stole the show.  The competition was tough with signature sandwiches; crispy chicken wings; chicken marsala; mini cheeseburgers; naked chicken queso burritos; gazpacho with shrimp and tortilla chips; grilled local sweet corn with garlic aioli; pickled jalapenos and house made ricotta; sausage lasagna; clam chowder; and pork sliders on the menu. One might argue that the real winners were the lucky attendees that got to buy these delicious offerings for a $5 donation to The Light Foundation.

“It comes as no surprise that Davio’s won our first Taste of Patriot Place honors,” 11-year New England Patriot Offensive Tackle and event host, Matt Light announced. “Even with the competitive culinary line-up that we had in our food concourse, Davio’s stood out in the crowd with a delicious signature item and top-notch service. And that’s saying a lot because we had great food and amazing servers here today.”

In 1985, at the young and ambitious age of 24, Steve DiFillippo purchased a locally-owned family restaurant called Davio’s on Newbury Street in Boston’s trendy Back Bay. As Boston’s culinary tastes evolved, DiFillippo transformed the location into a destination – retooling the menu, the space and the wine list. The new Davio’s garnered rave reviews. Today, the idea behind Davio’s Northern Italian Steakhouse is simple, regional Italian foods with a focus on the grill. Everything is made by hand from the best ingredients including Davio’s aged steaks and simple-yet-unique pasta creations. Even in the midst of a crazy, steamy Cornhole tournament in the Dana Farber Field House at Gillette Stadium, Davio’s trademark culinary expertise and attentive staff was evident. Davio’s has locations in Foxborough, Boston, Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia and Atlanta.

Taste of Patriot Place competition was stiff with Capriotti’s, CBS Scene, Olive Garden, Qdoba, Red Robin, Skipjack’s, Tastings, Tavolino, Toby Keith’s and Twenty8 all vying for top food honors at the inaugural Cornhole Commotion event.
