21st Rodman Ride for Kids Postponed to Oct. 1

According to the Rodman Rides for Kids Facebook page, the ride has been postponed until Oct. 1 due to inclement weather. 

"We appreciate your understanding and support of this decision, which was made based on the weather's impact on our ability to ensure rider safety on event day, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause," the event wrote on its Facebook page.

The 21st Rodman Ride for Kids will begin in Foxborough on Oct. 1. The ride is a non-competitive cycling tour each fall, devoted to raising money for at-risk children in Massachusetts.

The money that is raised from the event is donated to youth-focused social service agencies in hopes to improve the lives and support for the children. Local organization, the Kennedy-Donovan Center, is participating in its 10th Rodman Ride for Kids this year. The Center offers an array of community-based services annually to nearly 5,000 children and adults with developmental disabilities.

The ride has raised over $52 million since 1991.

There are various routes for the ride, including a 25 mile ride, one 50 mile ride and one 100 mile ride. Riders will depart between 7 and 11:30 a.m. The ride route will take a tour through Southeastern Massachusetts, including Mansfield, Foxboro, Norfolk, Norton, Taunton and Wrentham.

All routes begin and end at 10 Lincoln Road off Route One in Foxboro.

It is suggested that each rider bring along a helmet, a road worthy bike, a change of clothes for the end of the event, a totaled pledge sheet and all collected donations.
