Fight Back Against Cancer at Mansfield’s Relay for Life

Mansfield hosts its Relay for Life event this Friday.

Mansfield is hosting its 10th annual Relay for Life event this Friday, June 13 starting at 6pm at Mansfield High School.

Relay for Life was started in 1985 by the American Cancer Society. More than 4 million people in 20 countries participate each year, bringing together communities from all corners of the world.

The event gives people the opportunity to fight back against cancer, remember lost loved ones, and celebrate the lives of survivors. Participants set up teams and raise money and then camp out overnight, taking turns walking around a local track or path.

Everyone is welcome to set up a team, come cheer on walkers and runners, and participate in activities and entertainment throughout the night. Just after sunset is the Luminaria Ceremony, during which luminaria bags and candles are placed around the track to honor loved ones who have passed or are fighting cancer.
