Joe Andruzzi Foundation Charity Golf Tournament Coming Up

The Joe Andruzzi Foundation, based in Mansfield, is hosting its third annual charity golf tournament on May 23 at the in Norton.

The foundation is aimed at helping patients and their families with financial aide during treatment. The foundation provides funds to help with utility payments and other costs, as well as research funding for pediatric brain cancer.  Last year, the golf tournament raised just under $100,000. Sponsorships are still available for this year's tournament.

The Joe Andruzzi Foundation started back in 2008, after Joe Andruzzi's non-Hodgkin’s Burkitt’s lymphoma was sent into remission, and remains that way today. After his battle with cancer, and the death of friend C.J. Buckley, the Andruzzi family started the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, which has been providing financial aide to cancer patients and their families ever since.

Joe Andruzzi was a professional football player in the NFL since 1997, when he was picked up as a rookie for the Green Bay Packers. In 2000 the New England Patriots signed him, and he played five seasons for them and in the process earned three Superbowl rings. In 2005 he was picked up by the Cleveland Browns and played there until he was diagnosed with cancer.
