Mansfield Animal Shelter offers Memorial Pet Garden

Mansfield pet owners can honor their pets now in this garden.

A restful, landscaped, pet memorial garden is available at Mansfield Animal Shelter for pet owners to honor the memory of pets who have passed away. The project was conceived and implemented by Cole Putnam, a Life Scout in Troop 7 of Foxboro.

Cole worked on the project as part of extensive requirements to obtain his Eagle Scout Rank, which he hopes to accomplish soon. Helping Cole were fellow scouts, and friends from Foxboro High School, where Cole is a senior, graduating in June.

Bushes, with pink blossoms in the spring, are the backdrop for the garden. To one side of the garden is a boulder with the engraving: "Pet Memorial Garden." In the garden center, a stone walkway leads to a granite bench. On either side of the walkway the garden will contain rocks with pets’ names inscribed, and a scattering of planted flowers.
