Mansfield Education Foundation Raises $3,000 at Trivia Night

Foundation focused on Mansfield students.

The Mansfield Education Foundation (MEF) hosted its second annual Trivia Night FUNdraiser  to benefit Mansfield’s school children at the Norton Country Club. “Thinking for fun” and making money for education, was the goal of the night.  Kelley McCormick of Team Trivia Time provided challenging questions to the 11 teams who guessed or strategized to find the answer from categories such as sports, music, politics, geography, war & weapons, TV and movies.

The Big Bucks, No Whammies! team was named the 2011 Trivia Champs, coming from behind to win by correctly answering the question, “What is the most money spent on at the duty free shops?” (answer: tobacco)    A prize for the “Best Decorated Table” was given to the Marines team, whose members also dressed in red, white and blue and showed the most enthusiasm and team spirit throughout the night.  Other creative themes included The Winning Team, who brought in their sports’ awards and medals, and the Rhymes with Orange team, who had everything in orange.

A variety of raffles, door prizes and auction items were donated by local businesses and given out during the night.  These helped to raise the $3,000 to be given back to Mansfield educators through MEF’s grant process.  Through these fundraising events, corporate and private donations, MEF raise money to award grants for the funding of creative programs which enhance and encourage innovation and excellence in education.  The first group of grant recipients will be chosen and announced later this month.

“It was a great event again this year,” said Marybeth Cragan, MEF’s President. “We raised money to provide for innovation in our children’s education, and laughed with our friends.  That’s a win-win to me!”

MEF’s third annual Trivia Night event is already scheduled for March 30, 2012.
