Mansfield Food Pantry Preparing for Stamp Out Hunger Day

May 12 to be a big day for Our Daily Bread.

Saturday May 12 is Stamp Out Hunger Day -- the nation's largest one day food drive. On that day, letter carriers all across the country will pick up food donations and deliver them to local food pantries.

Here in Mansfield, our hard working local letter carriers will be doing their bit to support Mansfield's food pantry. Saturday morning, put your non-perishable food donations in bags inside or next to your mailbox, and your letter carrier will deliver it to Our Daily Bread food pantry. Food items such as soups, canned fruits and vegetables, pastas and canned meats are always needed at the pantry.

"Previous Stamp Out Hunger food drives have brought in 5,000 to 6,000 pounds of food to the pantry," said pantry volunteer Maria Smith. "Our letter carriers do a great job of picking up the food and delivering it right to our door. We really appreciate the donations from everyone and all the work our letter carriers do to bring the food to the on that day."

The pantry will be in need of extra hands that afternoon (May 12) to help unload all the trucks. If you have a free hour, please call the pantry at 508-339-1343 and leave your name and number.
