Mansfield High School Class of 2005 Holding Fundraiser for Corey Shea Flagpole
Fellow classmates want to help honor his memory.
The Mansfield Class of 2005 is holding a fundraiser on June 10 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. to help raise money for the on the South Common.
Corey Shea was serving as a speacialist in Iraq. While stationed in Mosul, a renegade Iraqi solider opened fire on he and his unit, killing him and another soldier. Six members of his team were wounded. The town of in the past three years to help honor his sacrifice and service.
Shea was a member of the 2005 graduating class of and they want to help preserve his memory. The flagpole rededication has been a subject of growing importance in the local community, and Shea’s fellow classmates are more than ready to help out.

Fellow classmate and 2005 class president Jon Antonuucci is heading the organization of the event with several other classmates.
“A few months ago when they first started raising funds I saw the article in the newspaper,” he said. “I thought it would be good to do something as a class. We want to get some people together and donate whatever we can. Coming from the class, I thought it would be a good way to show our respects to family, his mom, and help with what they’re putting in downtown.”

He said he had more than a few classes with Shea, and remembers him well.
“I played football with him freshman year,” he said. “ I grew up in Mansfield since forever, so I had known him pretty well.”
Tickets for the fundraiser are $10.There will be food, drinks, live music, raffles and more at the fundraiser. Items for the raffle include but are not limited to Red Sox tickets and a Samonsite luggage package.
“Myself and a few of our other classmates are getting some stuff together for the raffle,” he said.
