Under the direction of Fire Chief Neal Boldrighini and Deputy Fire Chief James Puleo, this full-service department provides the citizens of Mansfield with constant emergency and fire response care. Education to prevent fires and promote safety is a primary mission of the department, and Lieutenants Marc Goyette and Donald Tebeau dedicate full-time service to this cause. The crown jewel in the department's program is Student Awareness for Fire Education (SAFE). Led by Firefighter Kevin Fontes, seven trained educators provide Mansfield students in preschool through grade eight with instruction in fire safety and life rescue. As a direct result of this program, the state recognizes 20 Young Heroes from Mansfield, whose actions directly saved a life.

The Plymouth Street station is home to ladder, rescue and engine equipment as well as the business offices. This station is located inside the Cabot Industrial Park. A second station, built in 1930, operates at 291 North Main Street.
