Bruce Leavitt, 60, of Mansfield, formerly Dedham, passed away on Friday May 11, 2012, in the presence of his loving family, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Kit ( Hodder) Leavitt, to whom he was wed on February 14, 1992. Born in Boston, MA on April 12, 1952, he was a dear son of John O., Jr. and Corrine B. (Zorn) Leavitt of Dedham. Bruce grew up in Dedham and was a 1970 graduate of Dedham High School. He furthered his studies and received an associates degree from Massasoit Community College and his bachelors degree in Bio Medicine from Tufts University. Michaela M. “Micki” Smith, 16, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 7, 2012. Born in Boston, MA on July 2, 1995, she was a loving daughter of Craig D. and Nancy (Keating) Smith of Mansfield. Michaela was a special young lady and a junior at Mansfield High School Class of 2013, where she excelled in both the classroom and on the playing field. She dreamed of someday furthering her education in nursing. Micki’s grades allowed her the distinction of being an honor student, but it was on the playing field where she really shined. The high cost of weddings and 4 ways it can hurt newlyweds

My wife and I have four children – all boys – and I used to joke that this was a strategic financial planning decision because it meant that we wouldn’t need to pay for any wedding expenses in the future.  The short-lived Kardashian celebrity wedding covered by the E! Network was said to have cost $10 million.  And TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress” routinely shows brides and their parents forking out tens of thousands of dollars for a dress.  According to Bride Magazine, the average cost of a wedding in 2010 was $26,501.  Sure, that’s chump change next to the Kardashian debacle, but seriously, 26 grand?  Are you kidding me?   These days the average cost of a wedding almost makes a year at Northeastern University affordable.  The news gets worse…
