Mansfield Fire and EMS Log: Car vs. Stone Wall, Motorcycle Crash on 495, and More

May 13 10:21 a.m. - North Attleboro fire reported a car fire between the rest area and Exit 5 on Route 95 South. According to NAFD, there was a dump truck on fire with a load of wood chips smoldering. North Attleboro reports that they will handle it.   7:09 p.m. - A caller reported a bucket of a white powdery material on the sidewalk near Cindy's Dance Studio on East Street. Mansfield police confirmed it was a bucket of unmixed mortar.   May 14 8:17 a.m. - A person was transported to Sturdy Memorial Hospital after a pedestrian car accident at North Main Street and Chauncy Street.   11:08 p.m. - A male on West Street refused a medical transport after striking his head in a car accident.   May 15 12:36 p.m. - Mansfield fire gave mutual aid …

Theft - Case No. 130051 January 25, 2013 Foxboro : Rt.1 Liquor Mart Case Details: Looking for information on an attempted B&E/Smash and grab that occurred in Foxboro on 1/25/13 at approximately 1:05 A.M. at a liquor mart on Route 1. Security video shows two suspects. Both appear to be white males. One taller, heavy set, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The other was shorter, thin, wearing a dark jacket with a light stripe. Police Log: Mansfield Man Falls into Pond in Alleged Intoxicated State and More

May 10 9:06 a.m. - The Store on South Main Street called to report a woman drinking in the store and giving employees a hard time. Police arrested and charged Loretta Wilner, 57, of 67 Coral Street with disorderly conduct.   6:18 p.m. - Michael Kerr, 31, of 21 Webb Place #2C was arrested on a warrant.   9:15 p.m. - After attempting to purchase alcohol with a fake ID, Brendan Greene, 19, of 13 Strawstone Lane, Norton was given a summons for possession or use of ake or stolen RMV documents.   May 12 9:00 - A stolen bike at the Mansfield Commuter Rail station was reported.   May 13 2:51 p.m. - Mark Bowser, 20, of 101 Francis Avenue was arrested on two warrants.   5:15 p.m. - Mansfield police responded to a report of a man falling into a pond …

Eight Displaced After Fulton Place Fire

Early this morning, Mansfield Fire responded to a fire in an apartment unit on Fulton Place

Early Friday morning, Mansfield fire and local departments providing mutual aid assisted with extinguishing a fire located in a set of apartments on 15 Fulton Place.  According to scanner reports and Mansfield fire, flames started to appear from one of the buildings a little before 2 a.m. The fire was located in the second story of the wooded frame building with three units. Crews from Mansfield, Norton, Attleboro, Sharon, Foxborough, and North Attleboro responded to the fire, taking about a half-hour to get the flames under control. While there were no injuries, eight pepole were displaced due to the fire. According to the Sun Chronicle, there was about $80,000 in structual damage and content.  Volunteers from the American Red Cross were …

Should OUI Alcohol Limit Be Lowered To 0.05 Percent?

The National Transportation Safety Board recommends reducing the limit. Some say it would save lives. Others say it's unreasonable.

  One drink could be the standard for drunken driving – at least for some people if the National Transporation Safety Board has its way. On Tuesday, the NTSB recommended states lower the blood-alcohol threshold for driving under the influence from 0.08 percent to 0.05 percent. What do you think? Is the proposal reasonable? About 10,000 deaths a year are related to drunken driving. The NTSB says the lower limit would save 500 to 800 lives a year. Officials at the American Beverage Institute called the proposal "ludicrous." It said the average woman could reach the 0.05 percent limit by having one drink. There were 114 OUI fatalities in Massachusetts in 2012, which were 34 percent of traffic-related fatalities last year, according to Mothers…

Mjh6 I agree that's a good idea, but couldn't I blow into a balloon and then use that to bypass? I think incredibly stiffer penalty is the right path. People don't rob stores casually on their way home from work because its definite real jail time. Get a DUI or two, maybe a fine and a month suspension of your license.   more ›

Mansfield Fire Log: Car Crash on Route 95 and Brush Fires

The following is from the Mansfield Fire Department.

May 6 11:55 a.m. Caller reported a small mulch fire on North Main Street. Mansfield Fire extinguished the fire. May 7 11:50 a.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting a small brush fire at the Route 95 North rest station. May 8 9:29 a.m. Mansfield Fire responded to a call reporting an outside fire on Elm Street. Fire was found to be a legal burn by a neighbor. May 9 12:05 a.m. Caller reported a motor vehicle collision on Route 95 South. Two patients were extracted from the vehicle. Both victims were transported to Rhode Island Hospital. May 11 1:44 p.m. Caller reported a motor vehicle collision on Route 495 North. One vehicle reported over the guardrail. No serious injuries were reported.

May 9 2:21 p.m. Caller reported a violation of a restraining order. 4:23 p.m. Caller reported a bat stuck in her bathroom. 10:43 p.m. Tiffani Green, 25, of 37 Kerrigan St. in Long Beach, New York and William Dryden, 53, of 512 South Main St. were each arrested for operation of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Robbery - Case No. 130022 January 11, 2013 Swansea : Bay Coast Bank 554 Wilbur Ave Case Details: On 01/11/13 at 1338 hrs. the Swansea Branch of the Bay Coast Bank located at 554 Wilbur Ave. was robbed. A male suspect entered the bank and handed the teller a note. The note indicated that the bank was being robbed and demanded money. There was no weapon shown and no one was injured. The suspect then fled the bank across Wilbur Ave and onto Pine St.. The suspect is described as a White male in his early to mid twenties, about …
